No amount of subsidising (much of it illegal under EU law), preferring (also illegal under same) etc will help - all you will see is tokenism and words from our masters - both at national and local level - Save Our Shops...sounds nice doesn't it, but if all it amounts to is some piece of hype about how lovely Sloanie's Flower Shop is (and how we should all go there, darling) in a dps in the Standard, well it amounts to a hill of rubble from a pulled down grocer. Why do large firms get help on planning and to build car parks while successfully lobbying to introduce parking charges in streets outside small shops? Go figure.

Re: Onkar Singh Sahota » candidate | Snipe

Just wanted to say congratulations on your election result.

But we all know that to be the case - they have every right to be as biased as they were...and of course everyone has the right to know this and to discount the views of the Standard accordingly. What seems to have gone wrong generally is that voters STILL have not been properly made aware that what they are seeing in the media in these situations (whether the daily Benita Bulletin from the Guardian or Independent, the anti-democratic exclusion by the BBC of candidates that they do not approve of, or the 'Evil Ken v Saint Boris' six week tirade from the Standard) is that what you are reading and seeing is propaganda for or against certain people and that you have to discount all personal stuff. The answer has to start with a complete review of election spending and indeed the policies of the most important media in this matter - tv. The re-establishment of proper balance to the dangerously anti-democratic BBC has to lead off, otherwise all the others can always retreat into their laagers confident that they can accurately hurl accusations at state radio and tv which will hit the mark and allow them to be ever more biased.

Re: Were Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson gay? It looks dodgy to the voter and to any disinterested party, and I am not sure I agree with you that "all" the others do it. And where they do, no doubt someone opposing them exposes the same hypocrisy and cant for producing something which is a lie. Let people be the judge rather than covering it up. You may be uncomfortable with the exposure of such a ploy, but that kind of implies you yourself regard it as morally wrong, surely?! And of course, you don't have to produce a leaflet like this...

Re: With Miss October, X-Ray pin-up calendar girl, nothing is left to the imagination » Art | Snipe

?

Re: Paddick's pamphlet porkies part 2: North London's rogues' gallery » The Scoop | Snipe

Have you read the bottom two paragraphs, Hendonite?

Re: Can Brian Paddick find any ordinary Londoners to back him? » The Scoop | Snipe

Have you read the bottom four paragraphs, Hendonite?
